PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a primary ground fabric for a tufted carpet, which is biodegradable, is hardly deformed and reduced in strength under a high-temperature atmosphere, and is excellently thermostable with respect to heat which is given in a carpet manufacturing process. SOLUTION: Composite filaments including an aromatic polyester-based polymer and a polylactic acid-based polymer is adopted as configuration filaments. A repeating unit, which includes terephthalic acid and aliphatic dicarboxylic acid as an acid component; and ethyleneglycol and diethylene glycol as a glycol component, is adopted as a configuration component in the aromatic polyester-based polymer where the melting point is higher than that of the polylactic acid-based polymer. The melting point of the latter polymer is not less than 150°C. The composite form of the composite filaments is obtained by forming a core part with the polylactic acid-based polymer and forming a sheath part with the aromatic polyester-based polymer. Consequently, the primary ground fabric for the tufted carpet includes a composite filament nonwoven fabric with the composite filaments integrated therein, to which a binder resin adheres.
