FAILURE RECOVERY METHOD AND PACKET COMMUNICATION APPARATUS

When a trouble occurs on a path established between two packet communication apparatuses, a substitute path is established to restore the communication therebetween with the affection of the path trouble on nothing but the two packet communication apparatuses. There are executed a topology change notification holding step in which when a local packet communication apparatus detects a trouble of a transmission channel or path between the local packet communication apparatus and an opposed one and restores the communication therebetween, it is not notified to any other packet communication apparatuses during a specified time interval that the connection between the local packet communication apparatus and the opposed one is disconnected; at least one of path restoring steps in which a path establishment signaling is performed and a local path communication apparatus and the opposed packet communication apparatus cooperate to establish a substitute path in the specified time interval; and a virtual interface establishment changing step in which a virtual interface, which was used for the path disconnected due to the trouble, is established as the substitute path.
