The method involves transmitting a document to a data safety module, and protecting the document in the data safety module in order to obtain a protected document. An inspection document in the data safety module is generated based on the protected document and based on perceptible information, and the inspection document is outputted. A determination is made whether a document that contains in the inspection document is unmodified, and whether visual information is equal to the perceptible information. Authenticity of the inspected document is verified based on the result of the inspection. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a transmitting device for inspecting a safe transmission of a document to a data safety module (2) a receiving device for safe inspection of authenticity of a received protected document.
