<p>Loudspeaker sounds in a communications handset (10, 200) may be amplified in predetermined frequency ranges through positioning the loudspeaker (60) between ported and unported spaces. In one embodiment, an empty volume of space (80) disposed in front of the loudspeaker (60) is included to shape the frequency response of the loudspeaker (60). A port (20, 120) connecting this volume of space (80) to the environment may be located at a longitudinal end (24) of the handset (10, 200). In one embodiment, the port (20, 120) may pass through a space formed by an antenna loop (30). An additional empty volume of space (70) may be disposed behind the loudspeaker (60) to further shape the frequency response of the loudspeaker (60).</p> |
