A power source system has a main battery (40) connected to a power steering device (10) via an electric power supply path of a first system and also has a sub battery (50) connected to the power steering device via an electric power supply path of a second system. In detecting conditions of the sub battery, a power source control system for power steering enables, while restricting or shutting off the supply of power from the main battery to the power steering device, electric power to be supplied from the sub battery to the power steering device. When the speed of a vehicle is at a level higher than a predetermined standard, the device inhibits the detection of conditions of the sub battery.
