PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure air gaps between adjacent adsorption layers for allowing passing gases to mix with each other in the air gaps, for equalizing concentrations and temperatures of the passing gases in the air gaps and for improving adsorption and desorption efficiency. SOLUTION: A canister is provided with a charge port 11 and a purge port 12 for evaporated fuel at an end of a gas passage C formed inside a casing 1 and with a drain port 11 opened to atmosphere at the other end of the gas passage C. Four of the first, second, third and fourth adsorption layers C1-C4 filled with adsorption material are arranged in the gas passage C in order along a passage longitudinal direction L2 from a charge port 11 side and the first, second and third air gaps 15-17 having predetermined widths in the passage longitudinal direction L2 are ensured between adjacent adsorption layers.
