PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light weight rocker arm type valve gear excellent in wear resistance reducing weight and length in an axial direction of a mechanical lash adjuster and providing stable valve lift. SOLUTION: An adjuster fitting hole 14 is provided on an end part opposing to an upper end of a valve stem 7 of the rocker arm 1 rocked by rotation of a cam. The lash adjuster 20 built in an adjuster fitting hole 14 consists of a nut member 21 including a flange 26 at a lower end part thereof, an adjust screw 22 threadedly engaged with the nut member 21, an elastic body 23 pressing the adjust screw 22 in a valve stem 7 side, and a cap 24 pressed on an upper end part outer circumference of the nut member 21. An end part of the rocker arm 1 is gripped by a cap 24 thereof and the flange 26 to stabilize mounting of the nut member 21, and both end open cylindrical member is adopted as the nut member 21.
