PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear capable of changing the timing of a valve opening peak position while changing a peak lift quantity and a valve opening range. SOLUTION: The variable valve gear comprises a camshaft 10 having a first cam face 10a; a rocker arm 24 operating a valve 20 to open when a journaled first roller 26 is pressed; a swing cam 28 pressing the first roller 26 when a journaled second roller 30 is pressed by the first cam face 10a to swing around a supporting shaft 32; and a control means for controlling the supporting shaft 32 to be movable along a circular arc centering on the same position as the axial center of the first roller 26 in the closed state of the valve 20. When the supporting shaft 32 is moved in a direction to reduce the maximum lift quantity of the valve 20, the abutting position of the second roller 30 and first cam face 10a moves in an opposite direction to the rotating direction of the camshaft 10.
