PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for preventing reverse rotation of a reel for fishing equipped with a changeover member for preventing the reverse rotation of a rotation member irrespective of an intention of an angler and, as necessary, readily keeping the rotation member in a reversely rotatable state. SOLUTION: The device 46 for preventing the reverse rotation of the reel for fishing is equipped with the changeover lever 56 performing changeover to a reverse rotation-preventing position for permitting the normal rotation of the rotor 16 rotatably supported on a reel body 12 in the fishing line winding direction and checking the reverse rotation thereof in the fishing line delivering direction and a reversely rotatable position for permitting both the normal rotation and the reverse rotation of the rotor 16. The device is further provided with an engaging pawl 74 for checking the changeover operation of the changeover lever 56 to the reversely rotatable position when the changeover lever 56 is located at the reverse rotation-preventing position.
