<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress power consumption of a device when a host device is connected to a device by a communication system in which the host device is used as a master and the device is used as a slave. <P>SOLUTION: The host device 10 is connected with a printer 20 by a USB. The host device 10 has a device driver 12 which becomes a suspended state when a command to operate the printer 20 is not received from an AP 11 for more than fixed time. In a suspended state, when a specific reference command is received from the AP 11, the device driver 12 returns a dummy response to the reference command to the AP 11 without notifying the printer of the reference command.
