PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold coil which can easily be applied to a static induction device of the special high voltage class. SOLUTION: An electrostatic shield 6 is embedded within a mold layer 2 and a unit coil 4 is surrounded with the electrostatic shield 6. In the case of this structure, since an internal field of the electrostatic shield 6 becomes lower, generation of partial discharge can be controlled within a fine gap at the internal side of the electrostatic shield 6. In addition, since it is no longer required to consider generation of partial discharge at the external side of the electrostatic shield 6, a higher field can be set between the electrostatic field 6 and the earth without extension of a physical insulation distance. Therefore, since generation of partial discharge can be controlled under the compact design even when the voltage is high, a solid-state insulating mold coil 1 can be applied easily to a mold transformer of the special high voltage class.
