PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch device wherein a switch does not stands out normally and can be surely operated. SOLUTION: This switch device is a touch switch wherein the switch 2 and a light source 4 are covered with a covering material 5 not to be seen through a surface and the switch 2 is operated by touching an operation area 5a of the covering material 5 with a finger. The operation area 5a of the covering material 5 can not be visually recognized through the surface when the light source 4 is off but can be visually recognized when the light is on. The switch device is provided with a man sensing switch 6 detecting a man approaching the switch and a control part 7 lighting the light source 4 according to a detection signal of the man sensing switch 6. When a user approaches the switch 2 to operate the switch 2, the user can visually recognize the operation area 5a of the covering material 5 and can surely operate the switch 2.
