PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulated conductor that has improved insulating properties, and can extend the life of equipment and reduce a leakage current in energization, and to provide an electric coil using the insulated conductor. SOLUTION: The insulated conductor 1 has a conductor 2, and an insulating coating 3 formed on the conductor 2. The insulating coating 3 comprises a first resin layer 4 that is formed of a polyamideimide resin and covers the outer periphery of the conductor 2, and a second resin layer 5 that is formed of resin having higher extension properties than the polyamideimide resin and covers the outer periphery of the first resin layer 4. Therefore, when the insulated conductor 1 is bent and stranded, the second resin layer 5 follows the deformation of the insulated conductor 1, thus avoiding the generation of cracks in the insulating coating 3.
