PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive controller capable of appropriately shortening movement time in accordance with moving distance of a pickup unit. SOLUTION: A control part 10 in a disk reader 100 acquires the moving distance of an optical pickup 40. Further, as the moving distance of the optical pickup 40 is long, the control part 10 makes the highest value of a pulse speed input to the stepping motor 50 larger, on the other hand, decreases acceleration and deceleration of the pulse, and generates a pulse on the basis of the highest value of the pulse speed and the acceleration and deceleration of the pulse to output the pulse to the stepping motor 50.
