PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit board designing support device and circuit board designing support method for supporting board designing so that the layout of components is examined without examining the layout of unnecessary components. SOLUTION: A minimum area calculation part 13 calculates the minimum mounting area which becomes absolutely necessary when mounting all components included in a first electric circuit on a circuit board. A total number of component terminal calculation part 15 calculates the total sum of the number of terminals of a plurality of components included in the first electric circuit. A board specification determination part 16 determines the specifications of the layer configurations of the board on which components are mounted, based on the calculated total number of terminals of the components. A mounting coefficient determination part 18 determines execution coefficients corresponding to the specifications of the layer configurations of the board. A target area calculation part 21 integrates the minimum mounting area and the mounting coefficients, and calculates the target mounting area of the board which should be targeted when mounting the components on the board. A target area drawing output part 22 displays or prints the target mounting area and a drawing corresponding to the target mounting area on a liquid crystal display device.
