PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve flickering of a screen, which is caused at least immediately after restarting the supply of power supply voltage. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal display panel and a drive circuit for driving the liquid crystal display panel. The drive circuit comprises: a power supply terminal Vcc to which power supply voltage is supplied; a smooth capacitor CV for stabilizing the power supply voltage supplied from the power supply terminal Vcc; voltage dividing resistors R1, R2 for setting the potential of a common electrode CE of the liquid crystal panel to a reference level obtained by dividing the power supply voltage from the power supply terminal Vcc; an inverter circuit INV for periodically generating a pulse voltage with amplitude corresponding to the power supply voltage under the power supply voltage from the power supply terminal Vcc; a coupling capacitor CC connected between the inverter circuit INV and the common electrode CE to supply the pulse voltage from the inverter circuit INV to the common electrode CE, and a resistor R3 for interrupting the occurrence of a potential difference between both the ends of the coupling capacitor CC in a process for stopping the supply of the power supply voltage from the power supply terminal Vcc.
