The invention relates to an electromotive drive of a pivotably mounted batten carrying blades and pertaining to a mechanical weaving loom. The invention also relates to a mechanical weaving loom comprising one such drive. Said drive comprises a disc motor comprising at least one stator and at least one rotor provided with at least one circular or circular ring-type rotor disc. Said rotor disc consists of at least one concentric ring comprising magnetic segments or windings. The stator also comprises a concentric ring which is arranged opposite the rotor disc in the axial direction, and comprises magnetic segments or windings. At least the rotor disc is received in a housing of the rotor disc motor, the rotor disc and a shaft extending from the housing being interconnected in a coaxial and rotationally fixed manner. The electromotive drive comprising the disc motor is arranged in the mechanical weaving loom in such a way that a shaft extending from one side of the housing is connected to the rotor disc in a rotationally fixed manner, and at least one connection element is provided, by which means the drive is connected to the batten.
