The frame (12), walls (16) and bases of the titration cells, are formed together as a single-piece injection-compression molding (ICM). The plastic in the bases is more highly compressed than in the wall and frame regions. The injection-pressing mold is brought to a higher temperature in the base regions than elsewhere. Bridging sections of the frame connect walls of adjacent cells. Some bridging sections are at right angles to the cell axes. They are offset from the bases. An independent claim is also included for the mold. It defines a variable-volume cavity and corresponds in shape with the microtitration plate, the cells being formed internally, by cores in one mold half. The cores can be moved relative to the remaining regions of this mold half. They are also heated to a higher temperature than the remaining mold regions.
|
