The unit has two work spaces connected among each other over adjusting throttle valves, where the valves allow different damping force characteristics to be adjusted during operation. The valves comprise a valve piston (25) supported in a sliding guide, where the guide is designed as a sliding bushing (28) for guiding of the valve piston and also as a distance ring and a fit ring adapted within a valve unit on a radial and/or axial seat. The distance ring and fit ring comprise distance spacer (20) or bushes that are connected together in a form-fit manner.
