A locking device for a sliding window is provided to lock and unlock a double window easily by being installed on a vertical member of the overlapped part of an interior window and an exterior window when a window closes. The invention relates to a locking device for a sliding window, which comprises a body(10) installed to a side wall of a vertical member(11) of a window and composed of a rear wall provided with a pair of through holes to install an arc-shaped locking member to be projected partially and a front wall(10c) attached with an operating knob to be rotatable, an arc-shaped locking member locked or unlocked on a hanging member(2) installed on a window, installed to the inside of the body to be rotatable and placed to be projected partially through the through hole of the rear wall of the body, an operating knob(30) installed on the front wall of the body, installed to be rotatable in the perpendicular direction against a rotary shaft of the arc-shaped locking member and extended longitudinally to the inside of the vertical member, and a rotary power transmission device installed between the operating knob and the arc-shaped locking member to transfer the rotary power of the operating knob in the perpendicular direction of the arc-shaped locking member to rotate the arc-shaped locking member and composed of a fan-shaped gear installed to the end of the rotary shaft of the operating knob, pinions installed to a side wall of the arc-shaped locking member, intermediate gears installed to the middle of the pinions and a rack member provided with a rack groove engaged with the fan-shaped gear and a rack gear engaged with the intermediate gear to operate the pinions. |
