An impact absorbing apparatus for a tie rod is provided to absorb an impact with a damping force by draining oil of a hydraulic cylinder. An impact absorbing apparatus for a tie rod includes a hydraulic cylinder(2), a tie rod(4), a piezoelectric element(5), and a control unit(6). The hydraulic cylinder is integrally connected to the leading end of a rack bar. The tie rod is connected to the leading end of a piston movably installed in the hydraulic cylinder. The piezoelectric element is installed in the tie rod to detect an impact. The control unit detects an impact through the piezoelectric element and absorbs the impact with a damping force by draining the oil of the hydraulic cylinder if it is determined that an impact above a predetermined value is applied to the tie rod.
