<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus using two-component developer, which prevents carrier from adhering to a photoreceptor in an initial stage in new developer. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with: the photoreceptor 1; an optical recording means 2 forming a latent image on the photoreceptor; a developing device 3 forming a toner image by developing the latent image on the photoreceptor by using the developer having toner and carrier; and a transfer device 4 transferring the toner image on the photoreceptor to a recording medium or an intermediate transfer body. In the apparatus, the developing device 3 is equipped with a new article information element having information showing whether the carrier in the developing device is new. When the carrier in the developing device is decided to be the new one from the new article information element, the latent image of a predetermined halftone pattern is formed on the photoreceptor by the optical recording means, and image pre-forming operation to develop the latent image to the toner image is continuously performed for fixed time by the developing device. By such operation, the adhesion of the carrier to the photoreceptor in the initial stage in the new carrier is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
