<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problem that many conventional endoscopes have characteristic problems such as approaching speed, traction, laceration of a lumen during intraluminal operation in the digestive tract, and to improve methods and devices for traversing tubular organs. <P>SOLUTION: Various exemplary methods and devices are provided for traversing the lumen such as the digestive tract. The device can include an elongate body having distally positioned tubular elements and proximally positioned control elements. The tubular elements are adapted for selective and independent radial expansion and contraction and longitudinal movement such that movement of the tubular elements can drive the device through the lumen.
