<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the misconception of a user by forbidding a changing to power saving status at the time of impossibility of recording to a record medium in a video camera which establishes a power saving status that time duration to a recording start is short. <P>SOLUTION: In an imaging apparatus equipped with a camera unit for photoing an object and making it into a video signal, a drive unit for driving a recording medium which records data, and a control section for controlling this whole apparatus; a distinct power saving mode different from a power off mode and a power on mode of this apparatus is prepared.
