PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin foam safe and slight in load on the environment, also having high expansion ratio and excellent flexibility. SOLUTION: The resin foam is characterized by comprising a thermoplastic polymer ingredient and a multiple metal hydroxide ingredient of a polyhedral form represented by formula (1): m(M<SB>a</SB>O<SB>b</SB>)-n(Q<SB>d</SB>O<SB>e</SB>)-cH<SB>2</SB>O. Wherein, M and Q are each a metallic element differing from each other, Q is a metallic element of a group selected from a group IVa, Va, VIa, VIIa, VIII, Ib or IIb metallic element; m, n, a, b, c, d and e are each a positive number and may be the same value or different value; and M is preferably, e.g. magnesium, while Q is preferably, e.g. nickel or zinc.
