摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the startability of an engine at the time of low temperature, and to prevent the occurrence of an overdischarged cell. <P>SOLUTION: The battery temperature at the next engine starting time is forecast (S1) and a lowest-voltage cell is identified in which a voltage drops most, at engine start time (S3). Based on the predicted battery temperature and the internal resistance of the lowest-voltage cell, a target SOC is set for obtaining a prescribed output from the battery, without causing the voltage of the lowest-voltage cell to drop below a prescribed over-discharge threshold at the next engine starting time (S4). Then, the charging and discharging of the battery is controlled so as to make the SOC of the lowest-voltage cell equal to or larger than that of the target SOC. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
