<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a body fat measuring instrument capable of easily and accurately measuring the amount of visceral fat, and to provide an upper limb unit. <P>SOLUTION: The body fat measuring device comprises the upper limb unit 1 including holding parts 121, 122 to be held by hands of a subject and a main body part 110; and lower limb electrodes F1, F2 to be brought into contact with the lower limbs of the subject. The holding parts include upper limb electrodes H1, H2. The main body part includes a first surface 130 to be brought into contact with the abdominal surface of the subject; and a pair of first electrodes B, C and a pair of second electrodes A, D, which are arranged on the first surface. The amount of the visceral fat of the subject is calculated on the basis of two kinds of electrical potential differences detected when an electric current is applied via the respective pairs of upper and lower limb electrodes and when the current is applied via the second electrodes, respectively, and also on the basis of physical size information of the subject. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
