PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an adhesive spacer for a liquid crystal display apparatus, by which high coating efficiency on surfaces of seed particles and excellent productivity of spacer particles can be obtained, preferable dispersion stability (colloidal stability) after coating is obtained, and the thickness and amount of a coating layer can be easily controlled. SOLUTION: The method is characterized in that a radial polymerizable monomer is dissolved in a solvent which dissolves the radical polymerizable monomer but does not dissolve its polymer, and the radical polymerizable monomer is polymerized to produce polymer particles in the presence of seed particles and a resin that stabilizes the polymer produced by polymerization in a state of fine particles, while the surface of seed particles are coated with the produced polymer particles, wherein the seed particles are organic/inorganic composite particles or the resin comprises a macromonomer having the average molecular weight of 500 or more or a macroinitiator having the number average molecular weight of 500 or more.
