PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating liquid for the wood surface affording a coated film for the wood surface having excellent water repellency/water resistance, stable to ultraviolet light, etc., and having good durability. SOLUTION: The coating liquid for the wood surface comprises a silane compound and a catalyst for curing and/or solidifying the silane compound as principal components. The silane compound is represented by formula (1) (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each a hydrogen atom or a 1-4C alkyl group which may each be same or different; R<SP>4</SP>is a 1-10C alkyl group, a 1-10C alkenyl group or a phenyl group which may contain a halogen atom or an epoxy group in the group; and n is 2-10).
