PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder enabling a user to grasp a status of recording progress and an error such as a paper jam in detail from content of music or the like generated from a recorder even when away from the recorder. SOLUTION: The recorder is provided in which an "audio playing list" allowing a recording execution status or an error generation status to correspond to a digital audio file to be played is made and stored through user interface means 38 based on an "audio playing condition" set in advance by a user in a data control unit 151, and then when recording is executed or an error is generated, a digital audio file to be played is specified based on the "audio playing list", the digital audio file to be played is decoded and subjected to D/A conversion process in an audio control unit 154, amplified in an amplifier unit 39, and then played by a speaker SP.
