The invention relates to a method of manufacturing an electrical suction unit ( 11 ) for use in a vacuum cleaner. The suction unit comprises a turbine unit ( 13 ) and an electrical motor ( 15 ) with a rotor ( 19 ) and a stator ( 17 ). The turbine unit is attached to the rotor and forms, together with the rotor, a rotatable part ( 25 ) of the suction unit, which is rotatable about an axis of rotation ( 23 ). According to the method, an amount of material ( 33 ) is removed from the rotor ( 19 ') and an amount of material ( 35 ) is removed from the turbine unit ( 13 ') to torque-balance the rotatable part ( 25 ') of the suction unit.In this manner, the amount of material ( 33 ) to be removed from the rotor ( 19 ') to torque-balance the rotatable part ( 25 ') is considerably reduced, so that the adverse influence of the removal of the material ( 33 ) from the rotor ( 19 ') on the performance of the electrical motor ( 15 ) is limited.
