The unit (100) has an inlet valve (102), which is connectable with a micro pump or a pressure loaded supply reservoir. An outlet valve (104) outputs a monitored fluid flow (116). A fluid reservoir (110) is arranged between the inlet valve and the outlet valve, and has at least a flexible reservoir diaphragm area, which is formed by a sensor membrane area. A strain measuring strip is provided for detecting the volume and/or the pressure in the fluid reservoir. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a micro dosing arrangement with a micro pump and a monitoring unit (2) a method for monitoring a fluid flow by using a monitoring unit.
