Exhaust gas turbocharger

The turbocharger has a shaft (2) connecting a turbine wheel (3) that is arranged in a turbine housing (6), and a compressor wheel (4). A bearing with a bearing housing (5) is arranged between the wheels. The bearing housing and the turbine housing are coupled with each other by flanges (12, 13). The flanges have an insulation layer and insulation bases, where thermal conductivity of the layer and the bases are smaller than the thermal conductivity of materials of the flanges. The insulation layer is made of metal e.g. nickel-chromium alloy or a high quality steel alloy.
