A mouldable polyolefin blend comprises an olefin polymer having a crystallinity of at least 70% and at least 2 weight per cent of a thiol bis alkyl substituted cresol of the formula: <FORM:0857448/IV(a)/1> wherein one of the substituents A, B, C or D is methyl, two are hydrogen and one is an alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms per molecule. The polyolefin may be derived from ethylene, propylene, 1-butene, 1-pentene, 1-hexene, 1-octene, 4-methyl-1-pentene, 4-methyl-1-hexene, 4-ethyl-1-hexene, 6-methyl-1-heptene, 5-methyl-1-heptene, and if desired these 1-olefins may be polymerized with butene-2 and butadiene. The polymers may be made by using a "Zieglertype" catalyst or a supported metal oxide catalyst. Specified compounds of the above formula are 4, 41-thiol-bis (6-tert.-butyl-meta-cresol) ; 4, 41-thiol-bis (6-decyl-ortho-cresol) ; 3, 31-thiol-bis (5-ethyl-para-cresol); 2, 21-thiol-bis (3-sec-butyl-meta-cresol) ; 4, 41-thiol-bis (6-iso-propyl-meta-cresol) ; 4, 41-thiol-bis(6-tert-octyl-ortho-cresol); 4, 41-thiol-bis (3, 6-dimethyl-phenol); 2, 21-thiol-bis (3-n-hexyl-para-cresol). |
