A steam generator and a vacuum cleaner therewith are provided to mop a floor by sucking foreign matters through a nozzle and injecting steam, and to clean conveniently without wetting a dustcloth and the floor by restricting water from being supplied directly to the lower part of the nozzle with a water shutoff member. A steam generator includes a heater(140) heating water, a steam guide(144) guiding steam to the lower part of a nozzle in heating water, and a water shutoff member(145) restricting flow of water through the steam guide. The water shutoff member is spaced from the upper part of the steam guide, and supported by a connecting bar(145'). The water shutoff member is rounded and protruded upward, and integrally formed in the upper part of the steam guide. The water shutoff member is vertically bent and extended from the upper part of the steam guide.
