A steering column mounting structure is provided to continuously absorb an impact by tearing a steering column and a mounting portion of a cowl cross bar when an impact is applied to the steering wheel. A steering column mounting structure includes an external pipe(31), an internal pipe(33), and a mounting bracket. One side of the external pipe is connected to a handle of the vehicle to absorb an impact. One side of the external pipe is fixed to the internal pipe and the other side thereof is connected to a gear box. The mounting bracket fixes the internal pipe and the external pipe to a cowl cross bar. The impact applied to the steering column is absorbed by tearing a connection member fixing the steering column to the cowl cross bar when the steering bar is moved.
