A communication apparatus having a human body contact sensing function and a communication method thereof are provided to minimize power consumption of a micro processing unit and a transmitter/receiver circuit by inserting a human body contact sensor. An electrode(120) contacts with a human body, and a contact sensor(110) is connected to the electrode. The contact sensor instructs a central processing unit to perform an initial operation if the contact with the human body is sensed. A data processing unit(130) receives a control signal from the central processing unit to select whether to transmit or receive data, and performs a transmitting or receiving operation according to the control signal. The contact sensor instructs the central processing unit to perform the initial operation by sensing direct contact between the human body and the electrode or by sensing the approach of the human body.
