摘要 A method for setting a security channel between an OLT(Optical Line Terminator) and ONUs(Optical Network Unit) in an EPON(Ethernet Passive Optical Network) and an MPCP(Multi-Point Control Protocol) message structure for controlling frame transmission are provided to automatically register the ONUs and efficiently allocate keys through the MPCP message. A method for setting a security channel between an OLT and ONUs in an EPON includes the steps of: in the OLT, generating a channel by negotiating mutual security capability through security capability information of at least one ONU which wants to set the security channel at a discovering interval, an MPCP message, the OLT, and the ONU, and automatically registering the ONU having the negotiated security capability; in the OLT, setting a security channel by allocating an encryption key for security with the ONU having the negotiated security capability among the ONUs completed with the security capability negotiation and automatic registration; and transmitting an encryption key changing time message between the OLT with the allocated encryption key and the ONU to share an update time of the encryption key after setting the security channel.
