<p>1395026 Cups ITW Ltd 14 March 1973 [16 March 1972] 12379/72 Heading A4A In a nested stack of identical, seamless thinwalled plastics containers each container comprises a bottom wall 2, a side wall 3 extending generally upwardly and outwardly from the bottom wall 2 and including an upper sealing surface 10 and a lower sealing surface 8 adjacent the bottom wall 2, the sealing surfaces 8, 10 overlapping in successive containers to isolate a space 34 between their bottom walls 2, an internal, generally downwardlyfacing upper holding surface 22 and an external, generally upwardly-facing lower holding surface 24, the surfaces 22, 24 overlapping in successive containers hold them together, the vertical distance from the mid-height of the upper holding surface 22 to the mid-height of the upper sealing surface 10 being slightly less than the corresponding distance between the lower holding surface 24 and the lower sealing surface 8. The surfaces 8, 10 are frusto-conical with a semi-vertical angle of 30 degrees. The holding surfaces 22, 24 are surfaces of V-shaped rings 14, 18 in the container wall. Steps 12 define a finger-grip portion. In an alternative embodiment the upper and lower sealing surfaces (8b, 10b), Fig. 5, (not shown) are frustoconical with a semi-vertical angle of 4 degrees. A bevelled portion (36) near the bottom aids in guiding one cup into another.</p> |
