A method for confirming the position of a tire in a tire pressure monitoring system is provided to determine the position of the tire without an LF initiator in a TPMS of a basic spec. A method for confirming the position of a tire in a tire pressure monitoring system includes the steps of: receiving flag signals and receiver signals of tires in a TPMS receiver(S10); determining whether a flag signal value is 1(S20); storing a reception signal strength for IDs of the tires(S30); determining whether the received signal strength is with a preset value range(S40); storing the IDs and positions of the corresponding tires and setting the flag signal value to 1(S50); and analyzing the receiver signal of the tire and determining whether the tire is normal(S60).
