摘要 A method for manufacturing an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to simplify a process and reduce a cost by performing processes of forming a contact hole, and first and second pad open regions and of defining a remaining region of an overcoat layer through one mask. A gate line, a gate electrode(512a) and a gate pad(522) are formed on a substrate(511). A gate insulating layer(513) is formed on an entire surface including the gate electrode. A semiconductor layer(514) is formed on the gate insulating layer on the gate electrode. A data line, source/drain electrodes(515a,515b), and a data pad(525) are formed on the gate insulating layer. A passivation layer(516) is formed on the entire surface including the data line. An overcoat layer is formed on the entire surface of the substrate including the passivation layer. The overcoat layer is patterned to form an overcoat layer pattern(536b), and the overcoat layer pattern is formed by removing the overcoat layer in a region in which a contact hole, first and second pad open regions(528,538) are to be defined, and remaining the overcoat layer to a predetermined thickness, which is formed in a region where an overcoat layer remaining region is to be defined. The overcoat layer, the passivation layer, and the gate insulating layer are selectively removed by using the overcoat layer pattern as a mask to form the contact hole, and the first and second pad open regions and simultaneously define the overcoat layer remaining region. A pixel electrode connected to the drain electrode through the contact hole, and first and second transparent conductive layers connected to the gate pad and the data pad through the first and second pad open regions are formed.
