LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF FABRICATING THE SAME

An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to simultaneously perform the patterning of a pixel electrode and a pad member electrode and to electrically contact the pixel electrode with a drain electrode without a separate contact hole. The first substrate is divided into a pixel member and a pad member. The second substrate is oppositely bonded with the first substrate. Gate electrodes(121) and gate lines(116n-1) are formed on a pixel portion of the first substrate through the first mask process. The first insulation layer is formed on the first substrate. An active pattern, source/drain electrodes(122,123) and a data line for defining a pixel area and substantially crossed with the gate line are formed on the upper portion of the gate electrode of the pixel member through the second mask process. A pixel electrode is formed on the pixel area through the third mask process and electrically connected with the drain electrode. A liquid crystal layer is formed between the first and second substrates. A gate pad wire(116P) is formed on the pad member of the first substrate by the first conductive materials.
