A highly transparent polyester resin copolymerized with 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and a preparation thereof are provided to improve transparency thereof by controlling temperature, pressure and reaction time of esterification and condensation polymerization processes and controlling the amount of a colorant added during the preparation process of polyester. The highly transparent polyester resin copolymerized with 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol is prepared by copolymerizing an acid component consisting of dicarboxylic acids or ester-formable derivatives thereof, with a diol component consisting of glycols or ester-formable derivatives thereof. The diol component comprises 10-90mol% of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and 10-90mol% of ethylene glycol. The polyester resin is made into a sample with a thickness of 4mm. The polyester resin sample has a total transmittance of 90% or more, as the total transmittance of a light is measured according to ASTM D1003.
