摘要 An apparatus and a method for tracking sample timing in a wireless pico cell communication system of direct sequence band diffusion method are provided to improve performance of the wireless pico cell system by adjusting a timing point every N accumulated number of times. An apparatus for tracking sample timing in a wireless pico cell communication system includes a timing error detecting device(21), a filtering device(22), a normalizing device(23), a sample timing adjustment controlling device(24), and an interpolating device(25). The timing error detecting device(21) extracts a correlation function value by using an early signal having -1/Ns(Ns is a random natural number) chip offsets and a late signal having +1/Ns chip offsets based on a signal sampled at an on-time gate, and detects a difference between a square of the correlation function value detected through an early gate and a square of the correlation function value detected through a late gate. The filtering device(22) stabilizes the timing error detected at the timing error detecting device(21). The normalizing device(23) normalizes the timing error stabilized at the filtering device(22). The sample timing adjustment controlling device(24) controls a sample timing point every N(natural number) accumulated number of times by using the mean timing error normalized at the normalizing device(23). The interpolating device(25) adjusts the sample timing point according to control of the sampling timing adjustment controlling device(24).
