<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change an error message to be displayed depending on the type of a file when an generated error is an file error. <P>SOLUTION: An input image which is at least any one an image read by an image reader or an image having code data developed thereon transmitted from an information processing apparatus via a network is stored as a file belonging to a file type at least corresponding to transmission processing, display processing and printing processing. When an file error is detected in reading the stored file (NO in S1101) and the file type of the file corresponds to the display processing (YES in S1103), a nonserious error message is displayed (S1104).
