A substrate bonding apparatus and a method for manufacturing an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) by using the same are provided to increase reactivity of liquid crystals and prevent afterimage by heating two substrates before a bonding process and thus removing impurities that may be included in a liquid crystal material formed between the two substrates. A vacuum pump(140) makes the inside of a chamber(100) vacuous. An upper chuck(110) and a lower chuck(120) fix substrates. Heaters(115,125) heat at least one of the substrates. A transfer unit(130) moves the lower chuck and the upper chuck relative to each other to press the two substrates fixed to the lower chuck and the upper chuck. The heater is mounted in at least one of the upper chuck and the lower chuck. A sealing material(220) is applied and liquid crystals(230) are dropped to one of the two substrates.
