A method for checking a cause of a failure of a call connection of a mobile terminal is provided to allow a caller to easily remove a cause of a failure of call origination and easily select whether to re-originate a call to a destination. When a mobile terminal of a caller attempts a call connection to a mobile terminal of a callee, the mobile terminal of the caller checks whether an initialization message has been successfully transmitted(S1,S2). When transmission of the initialization message has not been successful, the mobile terminal displays 'no service' on a display unit by using the first call end status code(S3,S4). When the transmission of the initialization message has been successful, the mobile terminal checks whether an establishment of a traffic channel has been successful in a base station(S5). When the establishment of the traffic channel has failed, the mobile terminal displays 'base station service option reject' on the display unit by using the second call end status code(S6,S7). When the traffic channel is established in the base station, the mobile terminal checks whether a call connection with the mobile terminal of the callee has been successful(S8). After the initialization is normally performed, when the traffic channel is established in the base station and the call connection with the mobile terminal of the callee is successful, a speech path to the mobile terminal of the callee is formed to normally perform a call function(S14).
