摘要 An RSOA(Reflective Semiconductor Optical Amplifier), an RSOA module and a PON(Passive Optical Network) using the RSOA are provided to operate the RSOA in a gain saturation area even at low input optical power by dividing an active area into a simple non-saturated amplification area and a saturated amplification area. An RSOA(100) is composed of an active region(110) for executing amplification; a p-type electrode(130) for applying the current to the active region; and an anti-reflective coating facet(144) for inputting/outputting a signal and a high-reflective coating facet(142) for reflecting the signal, which are formed at both ends. The p-type electrode is separated into two areas(132,134) while maintaining a predetermined gap. The active region has a multiple quantum well or bulk structure.
