A display apparatus and a method of controlling the display apparatus are provided to easily set the display apparatus by uploading/downloading configuration information of the display apparatus to an external storage unit. A display apparatus(200) includes a signal processor(240), an interface(230), and a controller(260). The signal processor receives a broadcasting signal and performs signal processing on received broadcasting signal. The interface performs data communication with an external storage unit(100) which stores configuration information for the signal processing. The controller controls the signal processor based on the configuration information received from the external storage unit.
