BURST DATA RECEPTION METHOD AND APPARATUS IN EPON

A method and an apparatus for receiving and processing burst data in an EPON(Ethernet Passive Optical Network) are provided to receive and process burst data through shortening of a reception recovery time(synchronization time) by including a SerDes(Serialization and Deserialization) chip that applies a LOS signal generated in an MPCP(Multi-Point Control Protocol) in an OLT(Optical Line Terminal). An optical module receives burst data each having a different optical power level from a plurality of ONUs(Optical Network Units), performs level recovery, and converts optical signals of the burst data into electrical signals. A connection controller(130) generates an MPCP LOS signal for reducing a synchronization time of the burst data. When the MPCP LOS signal is generated, a SerDes unit(120) shortens the synchronization time and aligns a code group at an interval where the MPCP LOS signal is not generated in order to recover the received burst data.
